Hardware Setup Step 1: Disconnect the modem from its power adapter. Connect an Ethernet cable to the modem. Step 2: Plug the other end of the cable into the "Internet" port on the back of the wireless router. Step 3: Connect the computer to a LAN port on the D-Link. Connect the modem and the router to a power outlet. Basic Configuration Step 1: Navigate to the address "https://192.168.0.1" or "https://dlinkrouter" in a Web browser to access the setup wizard. Step 2: Choose your connection type from the options. Most Ethernet connections use DHCP. Click "Connect." Step 3: Enter the username and password for your Internet service into the appropriate fields or fill in the IP Address Subnet Mask Gateway Address and Primary DNS Server fields if applicable. Step 4: Click "Connect" to set up the network on the D-Link. Advanced Settings Step 1: Choose "Configure" from under Wireless Settings. Click "Wireless Connection Setup Wizard." Click "Next." Step 2: Enter a name for the network into the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field and then choose "Automatically Assign a Network Key" from the options. Step 3: Select "Use WPA Encryption Instead of WEP" for the best security and then click "Next." Write down the security password shown on-screen and store the password in a secure location. Step 4: Click "Save" to finish configuring the router. After the router automatically reboots disconnect the router's Ethernet connection from the computer if desired.

To set up the router: 1. Insert the installer CD in the drive. When the Welcome screen appears click Install Router. 2. Select your language and whether or not you would like to install a trial of Network Magic. Network Magic is not needed to configure the router or to connect your computers and TiVo to the network. When you are finished click Next. 3. As instructed remove the sticker from the router and click Next. The installer checks your current configuration. This may take several moments. 4. When the check is complete click Next. 5. Disconnect the power cord from the cable modem and click Next. 6. Use a CAT5 Ethernet cable to connect the router and the computer and then click Next. 7. Connect power to the router. The router will search for a connection. Once the connection is established the router will begin its configuration. This may take a few moments. When the button becomes available click Next. 8. Connect the cable modem's CAT5 cable into the router's Internet port and then click Next. 9. Reconnect the cable modem's power supply wait at least 30 seconds and then click Next. 10. The router will configure itself on the network. When the button is available click Next. 11. Enter a password for your router and click Next. This password will be used to log into the router if you ever need to change the router settings. 12. Enter a name for your Wireless Network and click Next. The network name also known as the SSID identifies your connection from other wireless networks in your area. You will have to know you're the name o your Wireless Network to connect wireless devices. IMPORTANT: You will choose this network name later when you set up the TiVo DVR to connect to the network. 13. Choose your security setting and click Apply Changes. WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK) is the recommended security setting because it provides the highest level of security. --> TiVo DVRs require software version 8.1 or later and must use a TiVo Wireless G adapter to connect to a wireless network that is secured by WPA2 security. --> If you purchased any other brand of wireless adapter you must choose WEP security. The TiVo DVR can only connect to a WPA/WPA2-enabled wireless network using a TiVo Wireless G adapter. 14. Choose your network security strength. Most secure (WPA) is the recommended security setting because it provides the highest level of security. --> TiVo DVRs require software version 8.1 or later and must use a TiVo Wireless G adapter to connect to a wireless network that is secured by WPA2 security. --> If you purchased any other brand of wireless adapter you must choose Secure (WEP). The TiVo DVR can only connect to a WPA/WPA2-enabled wireless network using a TiVo Wireless G adapter 15. Enter a password and click Next. This password can be the same as the router password that you set in step 11 or you can create a new one. The wireless password prevents unauthorized use because any device must send this password to log in before it can connect to your wireless network. 16. Confirm your settings and then click Next. The setup utility configures the router one last time. When the button becomes available click Next. 17. When you see the Congratulation screen click Finish. You are now ready to connect your TiVo DVR to the new network. For instructions.
