Find and Block Devices on Your Router

It can be pretty annoying when your internet speed gets affected by the number of unnecessary devices connected to your Wi-Fi network, and that too without your permission.

How to Find and Block Devices on Your Router?

The process of finding and blocking devices on your router might vary depending on the router you are using. So, taking examples of three routers and see how it is done-

For TP-link routers

With the help of your IP address and web browser, you will have to first access the settings of your router.

  • Login by entering your login details like  password and username 
  • Choose the "Advanced tab" option at the top. 
  • After this, you have to go to the "security panel" option that is available.  
  • Now, you have to choose the "access control" option under the security section. 
  • You will have to enable "access control" to check the list of all the connected devices to your router. 
  • If you wish to block any device, choose the cross symbol located next to it. 
  • You can also switch to access mode to block all the devices by default.

For Linksys Router

  • First, access the router setting using the IP address.
  • Enter all your login details, such as username and password.
  • If available, select the configuration tab and proceed to the next step.
  • You have to now choose the "security" option on the left panel.
  • Now, under the "security" option, select the "access control" option.
  • Now, you can specifically block or allow devices you want.

For Netgear Routers

  • Go to the official website of Netgear.
  • Try to log in with your login details, like username and password.
  • Select the "advanced" section.
  • Choose the "security" option.
  • Now, under the access control option, either choose an "allow" option or "block" option, depending upon what you want.

As mentioned earlier, the process of finding and blocking the devices may change depending on the router model. So, you have to always make sure that you have a full understanding of the proper functioning of your router.
