Follow these steps for reset your netgear router
Step 1: Open your preferred Web browser enter "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1" -- depending on your router model -- into the address bar and press "Enter".
Step 2: Attempt to log in with the default username and password for the router. To find this information for your particular model Netgear router refer to the user guide or owner's manual for the device. If you do not have the manual on hand try the default login credentials for most Netgear routers which are "admin" for the username and either "password" or "1234" for the password.
Step 3: Gather the login or member information assigned to you by your Internet service provider as you may need it when you reconfigure the router after the reset. Also if you use any applications that use special port numbers on the router to send and receive information over the Internet such as torrent programs or online games open them and record or note any ports you must open after you reset the router.
Step 4: Locate the small hole on the back of the Netgear router labeled "Reset" and then use a pen or paper clip to press the small button inside the recess. Press and hold the "Reset" button in the recessed hole for about five seconds and until the lights on the router begin to blink.
Step 5: Release the "Reset" button after the lights on the router begin to blink and then wait for the router to reboot automatically. After the router reboots all default settings return to factory defaults including the login password.
Step 6: Open your preferred Web browser and type "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1" into the address bar. Press "Enter" to display the administrator login page. Log in to the router using "admin" as the username and either "password" or "1234" as the password.
Step 7: Click "Basic Settings" or "Setup" in the administrator control panel depending on your model of Netgear router and then enter the user information assigned by the Internet service provider.
Step 8: Click the "Advanced Settings" tab and enter the numbers of any ports you need to open for applications in the "Port Forwarding" section.
Step 9: Click "Save" or "Save Settings" then click "Reboot" when prompted to save the configuration settings.
