1. Ensure that all required cables are connected and that you are in "Internet Explorer". Other browsers won't necessarily be able to log into the router. 2. In the address bar at the top of the browser type the following IP address: 192.168.1.1 Press "Enter". 3. You should now have a box appear asking for the username and password. Linksys use the word Admin in both fields. Once you have entered Admin into both the spaces provided press "Enter". 4. You should now have the Router setup page displayed. If you look along the Menu you will see a heading "Administration" click on "Administration" and it will open a page that will allow you to change the Gateway username & password. 5. Make the changes to the username & password (making a careful note of both of them). Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Save changes" There will be a short delay while the router saves the information and you can then close the browser window. 6. The next time that you want to access the router you will have to use the new username & password.
If you have forgotten or simply want to reset your Linksys router password just following a few simple steps will get you there. It's not as difficult as you might fear and it isn't too time-consuming either! 1. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. 2. Connect your router to your PC via an ethernet cable from one of the ports on the router to the ethernet port on the pc. 3. Open the internet on your pc (don't worry that you can't get online just yet) and type https://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar in order to access the router set-up. 4. A log-in box will appear. 5. The Linksys set-up page will load. 6. Enter the username and password originally supplied to you by your internet service provider for accessing the internet. 7. Once you have entered your username and password the router's internet light should come on indicating that you are recognised by your service provider and eligible to access the internet. 8. From this point it is strongly advised that you set up security for your network in order to encrypt your information and secure the network. 9. Click on the wireless security tab at the top and choose from WEP WPA and WPA2 on a drop down list of security options. 10.Once you have selected a security setting you will be provided with information regarding the security details. 11.When connecting to the internet for the first time after resetting your router you will be required to enter the security key and then you're away.
