The fastest way to update the firmware of your router is to update it automatically. Alternatively, you can download the firmware from the main website of the manufacturer. Unzip it and then update the settings of your router.

Step 1: Press the Windows key and X key simultaneously to launch the menu.
Step 2: Now, choose Network Connections from the menu.
Step 3: After that, the Network and internet window will open up before you.
Step 4: Below the connection, select properties.
Step 5: In the properties section search for the IPv4 DNS server and note the IP address.
Before you go ahead and update the firmware of your router, you are required to access your router. For this, you are required to enter a specific address in your web browser. You can see this address together with the login information in the instruction manual.
Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to access and update the router in general.
Step 1: Take an ethernet cable and use it to connect your router. It is important for you to establish a stable connection with your router in order to avoid any damage that may occur during the update process.
Step 2: Launch your internet browser.
Step 3: Go to the address bar of your browser and then enter the Ip address of your router.
Step 4: After that, you will be taken to the login page where you need to enter the username and password of your router. You can easily find the login information for the instruction manual that came with the router. You can also get these login details from third-party sources.
Step 5: When you log in, you will see the router or firmware upgrade option. You can obtain this option by going to Administration, utilities, or Maintenance section.
Step 6: After you locate the section, you will view the present version of your firmware together with its release date.
Step 7: Download the router update from the main website of the router manufacturer and extract it to any folder on your PC.
Step 8: Go to the update section of your router and then check the browse button. Hit that button to search for the router update file. Now, select the file by double-clicking on it.
Step 9: Choose the Update file and then begin with the upgrade process.
Step 10: Wait for the update process to complete. Once the update process gets completed, your router will restart and the firmware will get installed.
