Netgear router not connecting to cable modem?

I want to setup Netgear WGR614 Router with Comcast cable modem. For this process, I followed all instructions that are described in manual still my Netgear router is not connecting to Comcast. Is Netgear router is compatible with Comcast? Can anybody help me how to configure Netgear router for cable internet connection? Thanks in Advance!

For connecting Netgear router to cable modem, follow these steps -



1.First of all, you have to unplug Netgear router power cords. Also, unplug your Comcast cable modem.


2.Now take an ethernet cable for connecting Comcast cable modem to Netgear router’s internet port.


3.Now take another ethernet cable for connecting your PC to Netgear router’s LAN ports.


4.If your Comcast modem has any backup battery then remove it and unplug it and reinsert if after some time.


5.Now connect your Netgear router and Comcast modem to the power supply and wait for light indication.


6.Netgear router’s light will turn into solid green.



7.After this physical connection, open any web browser on your system and navigate to Netgear router login wizard by typing “192.168.1.1” in the address bar. Hit Enter key.


8.Now you are prompted to log in to Netgear router.


9.At the login screen, type “admin” in the username field and “password” in the password field.



10.After entering accurate login credentials, only then you can log in to Netgear router set up wizard.


11.On the Netgear router login screen, tap on Advanced option. Here you will see “Setup Wizard”. Here, you have to choose Yes option and then Tap on Next button.



Now the Netgear setup wizard will detect your internet connection type. Just wait for a few moments.


12. When the internet configuration process gets complete, you will see a confirmation message on the screen. Now just test your internet connection.
