I have setup Netgear N750 router with the cable modem but unable to access the internet. I have checked all physical connections twice, everything is OK. I don't understand why my Netgear router is not connecting to the cable modem. Is there anyone who can guide me to resolve Netgear router issue? Thanks for any help!
Hello Cary, it might be possible due to incorrect settings your Netgear router is not connecting to the cable modem.
Things to be needed- Netgear router, Cat 5 Ethernet cable, Netgear Smart Wizard Installation CD
Let’s see how to connect Netgear router to cable modem -
1.Firstly power down your PC, cable modem. After this, remove modem’s power cord from its rear side and from the power outlet.
2.Now, take a Cat-5 Ethernet cable and insert into Netgear router’s LAN port.
3.Connect the cable modem's power cord to the outlet and power up the modem. Wait for a couple of minutes so that modem can fully power up.
4.After this, power up Netgear router and PC. Launch Netgear Smart Gear driver on your system and then tap on “Router Setup”. Review Netgear usage guidelines and hit Next button.
5.In next step, you have to enter modem’s username and password at the respective fields. Then, click on Next.
6.Next, enter the name of your wireless network in the “Wireless Name” (SSID) field box and note it at some secure place.
7.Open the Wireless security drop-down menu and set an encryption level for your network.
8.After setting encryption level, move to Passphrase field and enter a strong password in it.Also, don’t forget note down password at some secure place as it will be needed in future.
