How Do You Set Up a Wireless Extender and Extend Your Wifi Range?
When setting up a wireless extender the placement of the extender becomes quite important. You should place it closer to your wifi router but also at a place where it can cover the area that is not covered by your router. Once you have set up the wireless extender you can experiment with the location and test different places within your house to find that perfect spot for the placement.
You can set up your wireless extender with your Phones, tablets, or personal computers to extend the range of your wifi. A wireless extender is an important gadget especially if you live in a big house or work in a big office with dead spots.
How to Set Up a Wireless Extender and Extend Your Wifi Range?
Here is a step-by-step guide to setting up a wireless extender-
- You have to first choose the right wifi extender depending on your current wifi router's specifications. You need to check the compatibility between your router and the Wi-Fi extender. The speed of your wifi extender should be in sync with your router capacity.
- The next important thing to keep in mind is the ideal placement of the extender. It should be kept closer to the wifi router and also at a distance from where it can cover the dead spots as well.
- Now you have to plug in the cables of the wireless extender to a power source. Wait for a few minutes till it is initialized.
- Connect your devices to the wireless extender.
- Now you have to open the web browser you are currently using and type either mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 on the search bar and hit enter. Further, you have to carry on with the on-screen instructions to access the setup page of your extender.
- Once you have access to the setup page you have to select "New extender set up", select the extender's admin details, answer the security questions, choose the network's name (SSIDs), create a password for both router and extender, and finally confirm the new network name (SSID).
- Some of the extenders have a wifi protected setup (WPS). You have to press the WPS button on your router and your extender to connect both devices.
Finally, once the connection is established you can test the network in the places where the wifi signal used to be weak. Check the current status of wifi signals in such areas.
