Configure the Wireless Settings on the Powerline Extender:

Like every other router, TP-Link wireless powerline adapters also have their build-in web manage page. So, it becomes easy and convenient to configure the wireless settings on the Powerline Extender. You can simply login the management or admin page and start configuring its wireless security.

Note : While you configure the wireless settings on the Powerline Extender, you might get confused with the other devices. Like if another TL-WPA281 is displayed on your screen and you get confused which model is the one you want to configure. then directly check the MAC address under the MAC Address column. To refer to the device’s MAC address, go to the label at the bottom of the device.

Step 3: Enter admin in the Username and Password fields(both in lower case). Finally, press OK button or press Enter.

Step 1: Firstly plug in the wireless adapter to the power socket and then connect your computer to the adapter.

Step 2: Manually, set a static IP address for your connection which may be wired or wireless. Remember the IP address must be 192.168.1.x(1<x<255).

To configure the wireless settings on the Powerline Extender, you must know to configure the TCP/IP Properties of your wired or wireless connection on your system.

Step 3: Now, launch any installed web browser on your system and then enter http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Thereafter, press the Enter button. Here, you can enter admin/admin (username and password) in the launched pop out window.

Once you have successfully logged in, you can easily configure and manage the device. This means that you can configure the wireless settings on the Powerline Extender.

Here, you will see six main menus at the leftmost column of the Web-based admin page. This includes Status, WPS, Network, Wireless, Powerline, and System Tools. You can configure the desired settings.

Remember, any submenus will be shown only after clicking one of the main menus. At the right side of the Web-based management page, you can refer to the detailed explanations and instructions for the corresponding settings page.

Step 1: Under the Wireless Settings tab on the left side menu, Select Wireless option and open the wireless settings page.

Here, you can set a required new network name (SSID) for WPA281’s wireless network. You can leave the same as your existing wireless network name as well. While you don't require to modify the other settings in normal cases. Lastly, make sure to click the Save button for saving the committed changes.

Step 2: Under the Wireless Security tab on the left side menu, Select Wireless option and open the wireless security page. It is always recommended to choose WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK as the security option.

Note that PSK Password is the key of your wireless network and you make a note of it for future use. If required, you can create and set a new one one by yourself and it could be the same password as your existing wireless network's password. Finally, just remember it and click the Save button.

Step 3: Under the Reboot tab on the left side menu, select the Systems Tools option. Here, click on the Reboot button for making all the modified settings come into effect.

So, here you have completed or finished all the settings successfully. For more details regarding each function and configuration, you can go to the Download Center to download the manual of your product.
