Configure MikroTik Router :

MikroTik router is without a doubt one of the best router devices available out there in the market today. They are a great choice for both internet service providers as well as customers.

If you know these routers, then you must be well aware of the fact that they are manufactured using the MikroTik router board hardware platform. The hardware is powered by the Mikrotik router OS. If you want to learn how to configure this router, then take a good look below.

If you wish to make changes in the configuration settings of your MikroTik router, then you need to use a method to connect it. The different ways are stated below.

Use WinBox to Connect: WinBox is a utility that you can use for the configuration of Windows. You can also use it on machines running macOS or Linux.

Use WebFig to Connect: WebFig is an internet-based user interface, which acts as the MicroTik router OS configuration. This is also a great tool for troubleshooting and monitoring.

Use the Command-Line Interface to Connect: This approach involves using the command line that can be done through serial cable, SSH, or Telnet.

These tools can easily be accessed by entering the IP address of your MikroTik router in the location bar of the browser.

The Default Configuration of MicroTik Router

The state of default configuration totally depends upon the type of router board platform. All MikroTik routers are already configured with the IP address 192.168.88.1.

The first thing that you need to do is to update the credentials of your router from default settings. This is the case of every router device that you have at your home irrespective of whether you have set the password or not.

User Settings

The option of user settings helps you decide who can have access to the network on the MikroTik router. By default, you are going to see admin as user setup that has complete access control. Hence, it is always advisable to disable the users and then create your own users based on how the network is setup.
