Use the 5-GHz Band on Your Router:

So, this is the reason that the 5GHz band is used these days as not only the network is very fast but it also reaches very far. Thus, it results in less interference & it leads to a high quality of data speed.

A handy manual should be kept aside to cross-check the devices. Another option for changing the setting is to follow the steps on the router & verify whether the devices are functioning effectively or not.

If all the devices function well after the router gets rebooted, each of the devices will turn out to be compatible. The frequency band which is on the higher side has a relatively small range, but if the user wants that all his devices will lie in the range of the router, he/she can simply buy an extender.

Below are the Steps on How to Use the 5-GHz Band on the Router-

Step 1: Log Into your account- Open the browser & type in the details of the default IP address of the manufacturer which is present on the downside section of the router or is present in the user manual or a custom one that you had set. By using the username or password, sign in to the settings page of the router.

Step 2: Open the wireless window for editing the wireless settings. Once you have reached there, the process to the "Basic" (or equivalent) tab if you are not located on the proper page.

Step 3: Alter the 802.11 bands from 2.4 GHz to 5GHz.

Step 4: Select Apply.

Now, if you want to know how to use the 5-GHz band on your router, then you need to know the difference between 2.4GHz & 5GHz. The user should know how to use one over the other.
If a user possesses a wireless router namely 802.11n, then the chances are that it supports the Wi-Fi on two separate bands which are of the below-mentioned frequencies-

• 2.4GHz

• 5GHz

So, above were the points through which a person can accomplish his/her above-mentioned task & if he/she knows how to use the router with high frequencies, then it will be an easy task for him/her. Also, the user shall know the frequencies & channels which are explained above.

A frequency band is a specific frequency range in which signals can be transmitted. Now the question that arises is how to use different types of bands on the router & especially how to use the 5-GHz band on your router.  Another question that arises is that what are channels & how can the users use the 5-GHz band on your router.

So, channels are a set of sub-bands that operate within the category of 2.4 or 5GHz bands. Earlier, the 2.4 GHz band functioned effectively as the number of devices that operate on the band was very less, but in today's world which has terrific connectivity, the band has become overburdened & has led to degradation in the performance of the network.
