Comcast modem gets connected to the central Comcast network when they are plugged in and is used to retrieve an IP address to assign to your router or computer whichever is plugged into the modem. Through a few steps, you can easily find out its IP address if you are using a Comcast modem.
These methods offer a variety of options for finding out the IP address and require only a few basic understandings of the computer to carry out the process based on what your current setup happens to be.
Step 1- Open a web browser on your computer that is connected to the modem or to the router that is connected to the modem.
Step 2- Use an online IP checking website where the IP address displayed on the site will be the IP address that is currently assigned to your modem.
Step 3- Connect your computer directly to the Comcast modem by clicking Start then C in the Run window.
Step 4- Wait for the command prompt to appear and then type “ipconfig” in the Run window.
Step 5- Look at the IP address that has returned, which is the current IP of your Comcast modem.
Step 6- After connecting your computer to the router, open the web interface of the modem and look at the settings of the router which is connected to the Comcast modem.
Step 7- The currently assigned IP address of the Comcast modem will be displayed.
Step 1- Open your browser.
Step 2- Type “192.168.100.1” into the address bar. (Note- Check your Comcast manual for the IP address of your modem if this address fails to resolve)
Step 3- Press Win-R and type “cmd” (without quotes) alternatively.
Step 4- After typing press Enter to open a command prompt window.
Step 5- Type “ipconfig” and press Enter.
Step 1- Open the start menu in Windows
Step 2- Select Run and type command and click Ok
Step 3- Type “ipconfig/all” at the blinking cursor and press Enter.
Step 4- Try to look for the entries near the end of the list- DHcpEnabled.
Step 5- To exit type “exit” at the blinking cursor and press Enter.
Step 1- Click the start button of the Windows
Step 2- Press the Enter button after typing “cmd” in the search box to open the command prompt
Step 3- To run the command, type "ipconfig/all" in the command prompt and press Enter.
Step 4- Locate the default gateway line where the IP address of a modem is the IP list on the default gateway line.
Yes, unless you have purchased a static IP address from them you cannot prevent Comcast from changing your IP address. Therefore, they will likely issue a new IP address whenever you change your router / MAC.
