Asus, one of the leading brand for network accessories offers you Asus RT-N12 Wireless router that supports 2.4 GHz signal bandwidth and 300Mbps wireless speed. It works on three different router modes including Access Point, Repeater, and wireless router mode (Default Mode).
This post guides you with the steps required to set up the ASUS RT-N12 Wireless Router using the Quick Internet Setup feature.
Step 1 : Connect the router to a power source using a power adapter that came along with it.
Step 2 : Now plug in the included Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports of the router and the other end of Ethernet cable to the computer’s Ethernet port.
Step 3 : Connect your modem device to the WAN Port of your Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router.
Step 4 : Do remember to plug in your modem’s Power adapter with some power source.
Step 5 : Press and hold the reset button on your router for 10-20 seconds in order to reset its settings.
Step 6 : Launch any installed browser on your system(such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Google Chrome).
Step 7 : Enter the default URL 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your browser and press the Enter key to open the admin panel of your router. From here, the user will be able to Setup WiFi on an Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router.
Step 8 : The Windows Security prompt window shows a user login panel where you can enter the username (admin) and the password (admin).
Note: Accessing the user interface of the router is required to change the router configuration like you want to configure the Wi-Fi settings
Step 9 : Click on Quick Internet Setup option on the navigational panel of the window.
Note: The Quick Internet Setup (QIS) feature enables you to quickly Setup WiFi on an Asus RT-N12 Wireless Router and is launched automatically. If QIS fails to launch automatically, then manually launch your wireless router's web GUI to access the QIS page and make the settings.
Step 10 : Next, you have to enter a new administrator password for your router and click on Next button. Changing the router password will help you to prevent your router from unauthorized access.
Step 11 : Just after accessing the admin section of your router, choose Wireless Router Mode.
Step 12 : You can read the complete Wi-Fi setup guidelines and click on Next button.
Step 13 : While making the wireless connection settings, choose the connection type for your ISP in case it is not detected automatically and click on Next button.
Step 14 : Now enter the Network Name, and Network Key (password) for your wireless router.
Step 15 : Finally, as you will click Next, it will show a summary of your network settings.

Sometimes you are required to reset the default settings of your router. Like you have forgotten the details of the user interface or admin panel of your router.
Reset hardware settings: Simply push the Reset button on your router device for at least 6 seconds. Your router device is automatically restarted and default settings are restored.
Reset software configurations: Resetting software settings means that you can restore the factory settings with the installed software. For this, you have to login into the user interface with the present login data.
