Question

How to Setup Belkin Router With Comcast Modem

I have a comcast modem at home and recently bought a wireless Belkin router on lease as the router provided by comcast people were not upto the mark. I have connected the router to the modem using the Ethernet cable and then connected the setup to my laptop but nothing is happening? I do not know whether the internet is down or I have to install something from the CD since I am not that much into tech. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my router or have I done something wrong? Some help will be appreciated.

You can also use default SSID now click on advanced settings by going to the main settings page. Now go to the Security settings and enter a strong password.

And finally by going on maintenance, if you see any flashes of IP address by your router then it means you have successfully configured your router and you have set up Belkin router with Comcast Modem.

Configuring a router and setting it up is a fairly easy job and can be completed using simple steps. Here I will discuss a detailed stepwise procedure to configure your Belkin router. Follow the instructions mentioned carefully:

Step 1: Connect your wireless Belkin router to your computer using an ethernet cable. One end of this cable goes into the LAN port of your wifi while the other end goes into the Ethernet port of your computer.

Also, make sure to insert ADSL cable from your service provider into the WAN port of the router. Wait for few minutes to let the connection between the two devices get established.

Step 2:
Open your web browser and type in 192.168.2.1 in the given URL field and hit Enter. This will redirect you to your routers utility and settings page but for that, you have to log in to your router account whose information is at the back of your router.

Step 3: Enter the SSID and Password as provided by your ISP, if not enter the default SSID as "admin" and leave the Password field blank and hit Enter. This will redirect you to the main settings page.

Step 4:
Once on the main settings page, click on "Ädvanced Settings" > "WAN". On the WAN settings window, click the box for Automatic IP. This will ensure that you receive IP address automatically from your ISP. Save the settings.

Step 5:
Now, come back to the main window and go to "Security Settings". Here, choose the WPA2 as your encryption and just below that you will see a box for "Passkey", this is your wifi password.

Enter a strong password that you can remember and save the settings.

Step 6:
Now go to the maintenance and see if your router flashes any IP address. If yes you have successfully configured your router.

Hopefully, these steps helped you in configuring Comcast router. In case you have any difficulty understanding these steps or anything, in particular, you need assistance. revert back to your query and I will be glad to help you out.
