Configuring Netgear Router With Your Network Extender
You can configure your Netgear router with your network extender by following the steps given below-
- First of all, you have to plug your network extender into a power source and make sure that the power LED is lit up. If the power LED lights are not turned on, you can consider pressing the power or on and off buttons.
- Now, with the help of your mobile or computer, you have to connect to the extender's default wifi network. NETGEAR_EXT.
- Now, to establish a connection, you will be asked for a password. You can either type the default password, which is "password," or type nothing at all because the network extender has no password.
- Now, you will have to access the setup page of your network extender using a web browser and enter either 192.168.1.250 or mywifiext.net. The extender setup page will display on your screen.
- Select the "new extender setup" option except for all the terms and conditions by clicking on the "yes" option.
- You will be asked to add default login credentials. In place of a username, you can add "admin." Select a password that is different from the Wi-Fi network password. Continue the process by answering the security questions in case there is a need for recovery in the future.
- The extender will now look for the local wifi networks. You will have to select the existing networks, such as 2.5GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi SSID (Network name).
- Enter the existing network password.
- You will now have to configure the network name( SSID) and password.
- Select the "next" option and apply the settings. You will have to wait for a few minutes.
- You will have to note down the "network name (SSID)" and "password" for each band displayed on the network extender.
