Question

How to Set NETGEAR Router with the Xfinity Modem

I have the Xfinity's latest modem duo, but it is located in the office room which is in the basement. It does not have a good signal for the upstairs, except in the room directly above the router. I have a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router (WNDR3400) that I want to use as a wireless "hotspot". Unfortunately, my knowledge with this goes as far as using one router. So I need help figuring out how to get my Netgear Router to be in a listening mode to bounce the signal from the Xfinity router to the upstairs. Please help!

Setup NETGEAR Router with Xfinity Modem:

For setup Netgear router with Xfinity modem, just go through these steps that are mentioned below:-

Step 1. Open your preferred browser and type the router IP address into the address bar and press the Enter key.The Login prompt will ask for the router configuration user name and password. The default user name is admin and the default password is password.

Step 2. Click Setup Wizard in the top left corner and select Yes, then click Next.

Step 3. The Setup Wizard will detect the type of Internet connection. For cable Internet connections, Setup Wizard will detect Dynamic IP. Click Next.

Step 4. You do not have to change your default settings.

Step 5. The router will now save these settings. When complete, you can verify whether you’re connected to the Internet from the Router Status > Maintenance menu.

Make sure you have a valid IP address – not blank or 0.0.0.0 – on the Internet port assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
