How to Fix NETGEAR Router from Disconnecting?

Hello, Please tell me how to fix Netgear router from disconnecting while working. I have tried so many time to solve it but fail in solving Netgear router from disconnecting problem.

So, you can troubleshoot this issue on your own by power cycling or performing a simple reboot. You can also consider using an ethernet cable to establish a connection for better stability and reliability.

Resetting the Netgear router is also a good solution to fix the disconnection problem. There are two kinds of reset. The first one is a soft reset, and the second one is a hard reset. To perform a hard reset, you have to press the reset key on the router.

How to Fixed the Issue of the NETGEAR Router from Disconnecting?

If you wish to solve the problem of Netgear router disconnecting again and again, then you don’t need to jump to the last resort of resetting the router. There are other troubleshooting methods that you are available with that you can use to get rid of the problem of constant disconnection.

You must consider resetting the router as the last option. The first thing that you can try out to deal with the router connectivity problems is to perform a power cycle or a simple reboot.

Step 1: Restart your router and modem. Remove the power wire from the router and modem and then wait for 10 seconds. After that, connect it back to the power source. Also, restart your computer after that.

Step 2: Wait for a minute and then check the internet light on your router and modem. If the modem light is on, then that means the modem is working perfectly and you are getting internet from the side of your internet service provider.

Step 3: Now to prevent the Netgear router from disconnecting, again see the internet light on your router and then try to use the internet. Check if restarting the router works out for you or not. When this process is completed, then you can check the connection provided by the internet service provider. Also, take a look at your router.

Step 4: Now to prevent the Netgear router from disconnecting, connect the modem to the computer system using an ethernet wire. The wire that is connecting the modem and your router’s internet port. Remove the cable from your router and connect it to your computer system.

Reset Netgear Router:

  • Connect your Netgear router to the computer system.
  • Enter the default web address and log into the setup page of the router. Type www.routerlogin.net in the address bar or you can also type the IP address 192.168.0.1. In case this does not work, then you can also try this web address www.routerlogin.com or 198.168.1.1.
  • It will ask you to enter the username and password. Generally, both the username and password are admin. Also, you can enter admin in the username section and password in the password section.

  • After that to stop the Netgear router from disconnecting, log into the Netgear router and enter the backup settings and then you will see the option of revert to factory default settings.
  • Below that, you will see the option of Erase. Click on it. Then, the Netgear router will go back to the default settings. After that, it will ask for a reboot. Then, restart your modem and router and try setting up the router again.

Hard Reset Netgear Router:

In case the soft reset option does not stop the Netgear router from disconnecting. Press the reset key that is placed at the back of your Netgear router.

Take a pen or paper clip and press the reset key at the back of your router. Keep on holding the button for the next 20-30 seconds. Don’t release the button until the all the lights start blinking together.

  • Please ensure that you are linked to the internet for logging into your Netgear router, you need to enter the address of the default gateway.
  • Enter your default gateway’s web address. Enter www.routerlogin.net. You also have a choice to enter the IP address. In case this does not work for you, then try entering Routertechnicalsupport. Then, it will ask you to enter the username and password details. Try entering admin as the username and admin as the password. If that does not work, then you can enter admin in the username section and password in the password section.
  • Now, log into your router and check updates.
