I have a Netgear DG834gV4 modem router and works fine with my Dell laptop when connected to the ethernet cable. But when my friend connects his laptop to Netgear router wirelessly, there is no internet connectivity. I don’t understand why this is happening? Although I have checked Netgear router settings but everything is OK. Can anybody help me troubleshoot Netgear router issue?
Check out these points for connecting to Netgear router wirelessly-
Step 1.Take an ethernet cable for connecting the cable modem to Netgear router’s internet port.
Step 2.Now, turn on your modem and wait for a couple of minutes until all lights become solid.
Step 3.After this, turn on Netgear router and wait until all lights become stable, this process might take a few seconds, so don’t worry about that.
Step 4.Check the present wireless settings of Netgear router. (these are written on back side of the device.)
Step 5.Open your laptop/PC and then move to WiFi connection manager. Find the network name (SSID) of your Netgear router.
Step 6.Next, connect to Netgear router by entering correct passphrase in the “Security key” field box.
Step 7.Open Mozilla Firefox and you are redirected to Netgear Genie. If due to any reason Netgear Genie does not display on the screen then move to address bar and type “https://www.routerlogin.com” or “https://www.routerlogin.net” and press Enter.
Step 8.Now, you are redirected to a login page where you have to enter default login details i.e., username and password. The default username is “admin” and the default password is “password”.
Step 9. To configure your device, just follow the on-screen prompts of Netgear Genie.
If you are having DSL connection then you have to enter PPPoE credentials that are provided by ISP to properly configure Netgear router.
Now, Congratulations page will appear on laptop’s screen.
