Why I am Facing Problem with Intermittent Disconnect with Linksys Router

I recently bought a Linksys BEFW11S4 router for wireless use with one remote laptop. When I fire up the laptop, it sees the wireless network and can connect, no problem. Things work fine for about 45 minutes, at which point the laptop is disconnected. Subsequently, the laptop will report that it is connected, then disconnect in about 3 seconds, re-connect 3 seconds later, and repeat. The 45 minute time point is not exact, but it is roughly consistent each time I use the laptop.I am using WPA/TKIP encryption with MAC filtering. If anybody knows how to fix this issue, then please help me!!

Linksys BEFW11S4 Router Disconnecting Issue | Linksys Befw11s4 Reset

The issue of intermittent disconnect could occur due to a number of reasons. I will discuss different troubleshooting techniques to resolve this issue. Kindly follow the given techniques carefully.

  1. Check for faulty connection and cable:

Sometimes, it has been noticed that a faulty or broken cable connection can cause these kinds of interruptions. So make sure to check all your wired connection and if you find anything which has been damaged, replace it with a new one. Also, make sure that your router is connected to a constant power source.
  2. Update your firmware:

Firmware contains encoded messages and fixes for your router to function properly. The updates or newer version contains fixes for the bugs and problems with the last version. So make sure to update your router's firmware to the latest available version from your vendor's website.
  3. Change encryption settings:

Although there is no issue with using WPA encryption it is always recommended to use the WPA2 version as it is considered to be the safest. It has a government level end-to-end encryption and considered to be safest from the given settings option. So go to your router's settings page or default web page and change encryption setting to WPA2 under the security option.
  4. Reset Linksys befw11s4 Router:

If any of the given troubleshooting techniques did not resolve the issue, it is recommended to Reset your router. This process will wipe out all the changes you have made and settings will be set to factory made. Resetting your device resolves certain critical issues associated with the change in settings.

So press the "Reset" button at the back of your router device for 20-30 seconds and wait for few minutes before powering it on. This will ensure that any problems occurring due to a faulty setting will be resolved. Make sure not to overdo this step as resetting your Linksys Router for more than 5-8 times can cause permanent damages

Hopefully, the above-given troubleshooting techniques helped you in getting to a solution. In case you have any kind of query or issue with these techniques, kindly revert back with your issue and I will be glad to help.
