Configuring Linksys Wireless Range Extender:

Linksys wireless repeater enables you to extend the wireless network and make it reach even those places where the signal strength is very poor. There are some areas where the network can’t reach to make the network reach those certain areas of your house, you need to use a wireless repeater. In this article, you will get to know how to configure Linksys wireless range extender. 

Prior to moving ahead with the necessary steps, please ensure that you have the following things. 

1) First of All, Identify the Wireless Settings of Your Linksys Router. These Settings Include:

  • Wireless password or encryption key
  • Wireless channel
  • Wireless network name

To learn how to check or change the settings of your wireless network, you need to open your Linksys account. In case your router device has an internet based setup page, then you need to go for different settings. 

2) Reset Your Wireless Linksys Extender: 

If you feel like resetting your range extender, press the button of reset, which is given at the top of your repeater. Hold the button for the next 5 seconds or wait for the LED light to start flashing to bring it back to the default settings. 

Step 1: Connect your PC to the ethernet port of your range extender by using an ethernet wire. Images may change depending on the computer type or the extender which you are using.

Step 2:  Connect your wireless extender to the electrical outlet and ensure that the lights are stable. 

Step 3: Open an internet browser and then enter the IP address of your router in the location bar of your router. 

If you wish to know how you can check the IP address of your router. In case your PC has a default setup page on your browser, a dialog box will open up before you and will ask for a username and password. 

Step 4: A window will appear before you which will ask you to enter your username and password. Leave the Username section empty and type admin in the password section and then finally click on Log In.

Step 5: Select Wireless and then choose basic wireless settings.

Step 6: Select the manual option and then enter the name of your wireless network.

Step 7: Go to the section of Wireless Security and then choose those settings, which can help you match the configuration of your router. Enter the WEP password and then select the option of Save Settings.

Step 8: Disconnect the wires running between your range extender and router and let it remain disconnected for the next 30 seconds. After that, connect the wire to the router and then wait for the lights to become stable. 

Once the lights become stable, then the next thing that you need to do is to connect the power wire to the wireless extender. This will reconnect your router and range extender. 

So, these are all the steps that one needs to perform in order to configure a Linksys wireless range extender.
