If you are facing the problem of the Linksys router not recognizing the password, then there can be many possible reasons for it. Some of the reasons could be entering the wrong password, outdated firmware, incorrect settings, insufficient bandwidth, some wireless interference, and issues with security settings.

The problem is not so big and can be solved with some effort. You can upgrade the router's firmware, perform a factory to set the router back to its factory default settings, make sure that the router has a proper network connection, try different possible passwords, and put an auto-login on the Linksys router.

Fix Linksys Router is Not Recognizing the Password

Below are the different solutions that you can apply in order to fix the Linksys router not recognizing the password issue.

Solution 1: See If You can Ping 192.168.1.1

Begin with the troubleshooting process for wiring your PC to the router. Launch the command prompt and then check if you can ping 192.168.1.1. If you get 5 good replies, then that means your router is not defective.

There is a high possibility that a glitch is causing this error. Enter 192.168.1.1 in the same command prompt and then press the enter key. This will launch your web browser and you will be redirected to a screen where you need to enter your username and password.

Solution 2: Upgrade the Firmware of Your Router

Outdated firmware can also lead to these kinds of problems. So, you must make sure that your firmware is updated. If the firmware of your router is not updated, then you must update it as quickly as possible.

Solution 3: Reset Your Linksys Router to Factory Default Settings

In case the login window of linksys router is not accepting your password no matter what you are trying to do, then the last thing that you can do is to reset your router to factory default settings. For doing this, you need to press the reset button and then hold it for at least 10 seconds.

Do this until your power LED light starts to flash. If you are using an older model of the Linksys router, then you need to press the reset button and hold it for at least 30 seconds. To complete the reset process, you need to disconnect the power wire for 30 or more than 30 seconds.

In the end, you need to reconnect it to the power source. This will delete the settings and you will have to perform the configuration process again.

Solution 4: Try Different Possible Passwords

If your router is not accepting the password on your router's configuration page. Instead, it is deleting the password that you are entering. Then, there is a possibility that someone connected to your network and then changed the password.

Also, you might yourself have changed the password but you don't remember the password. In this case, you can try multiple passwords you could possibly set.

Solution 5: Set Auto-Login on Your Router

In case you are using the Google Chrome browser, then all you need to do is to choose preferences and then select the Advanced option to expand the options. After that, turn on "Allow Chrome sign-in" with the present username and password.

If you are using some other browser, then you can check the option of automatic login to prevent this kind of situation.
