With the help of a Linksys wireless G router, you can connect multiple computer devices to one access point. But as a new user, the problem arises when you have little understanding of the setup process of the Linksys router.

The setup procedure is pretty much similar to the setup process of all the other routers. You have to start with establishing a connection between the router and a modem with the help of an ethernet cable wire.

Once you have access to the setup page you can customize the settings accordingly and form connections with other devices.

Mentioned Below are the Steps that You Need to Follow to Setup Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router:

Step 1: Use an Ethernet Wire to Connect Modem and Router

The foremost thing that you need to do is to connect your internet modem to the computer system using an ethernet wire. Connect one end of the wire in the internet port of the modem and another end of the wire into the ethernet port of your computer system.

Step 2: Connect the Broadband Modem to Your Wireless Router

Take an ethernet wire and connect its one end to the internet port of the Linksys wireless router and the other end to the modem. Take another ethernet wire and connect its one end to the computer and another end to any of the 4 ports of the Linksys router.

Step 3: Connect Your Router to the Power Source

The next thing that you need to do is to connect your router device to an electrical outlet. After that, turn on both your router as well as the modem. Please check that all the LED lights of both the devices are turned on. Power on your PC and then open your web browser.

Step 4: Enter the IP Address in the Web Browser

In the address bar of your internet browser, type the IP address and then click on the search icon. The Linksys router setup page will open up.

Step 5: Enter the Username and Password

On the login page, enter admin in the username section and password section. After that, select OK.

Step 6: Change the IP Address in the Setup Page

Search for the Local IP address on the setup page of the router. Change the IP address and keep it and then select Save Settings.

Step 7: Enter the New IP Address in the Location bar of Your Internet Browser

After that, go to the button of DHCP Renew. Then, enter in the location bar of the web browser.

Step 8: Verify the Numbers after the IP Address after Going to the Status Tab

Go to the Status tab and then check the numbers, which are listed after the IP address. If you see any numbers, then it means your computer system can have access to the internet. In case there are no numbers and only zeroes are given, then follow the instructions in the steps that are given below.

Step 9: Select DHCP Renew

Click on the button of DHCP release and then select “DHCP Renew”.

Step 10: Enter the New IP Address in the Address Bar Once Again

Enter the IP address in the location bar of the internet browser.

Step 11: Search for the Type of Internet Connection

On the web-based setup page, select the type of internet connection. After that, from the drop-down menu, select PPOE from the internet connection.

Step 12: Enter the Username and Password Provided by the Internet Service Provider

In the last step, you are required to enter the username and password given to you by your internet service provider. Go to Save Settings and then select the “Status Tab” that says connected right after the Login Status”

So, these are the steps that you need to carry out in order to setup Linksys Wireless G router.
