Step 1: Go to the web browser of your choice and log in to the setup page (web-based) of your range extender. Remember that there are 3 types of methods to log in.

• In the address bar, type  "http://extender.linksys.com".

• In the address bar, type "http://RE6350" for Windows and "http://RE6350.local" for OS X. (In case you have changed the Linksys RE6350's name, then use that modified name instead (e.g. "http://MyAP" or “http://MyAp.local”).
• Enter the 192.168.1.1 IP address of the range extender.

(The default IP address of the Linksys range extender is 192.168.1.1 if your range extender fails to detect the DHCP server.

Step 2: In the next step, enter the admin password of your range extender or enter the new one if you have changed in the password field and then click login. (the default password of the Linksys range extender is“admin”).

Step 3: On the web-based setup page that you have logged in, go to the Administration option > click on the Firmware Upgrade.

Step 4: To Update a Linksys RE6350 WiFi Repeater, there are two ways to that. Automatic update and the other one is the manual update.

Automatic Update

• If a new update is available, then the range extender will automatically notify you. Next, click on the Update now button to start upgrading the firmware.
• Check the Auto-update range extender when improvements are available checkbox Update a Linksys RE6350 WiFi Repeater automatically.

Manual Update

• To Update a Linksys RE6350 WiFi Repeater manually, click on the “Select a file button” and then choose the firmware file that you have downloaded, now click on the Open.  
• To start upgrading the firmware, click the Start Upgrade button. (Make sure that you download the firmware file from the official page of Linksys RE6350.

You will see the progress of the upgrade process on the same screen. Make sure that the upgrade process is not interrupted and is carried out smoothly. Also, please don’t turn the device off or reset it until the process is completed.

Step 5: Lastly, click on the “save” option to apply the changes.
