Reset Password for Belkin Wireless Router

I lost the original password for my wireless router. I can hook the internet up directly to my computer to get internet but my roommates cant use it. how do i reset the password without knowing the original? i am looking for belkin router help, belkin router support etc.

Passwords are a very sensitive part of any device. In order to protect the network or device from misuse, you need to set or reset passwords from time to time, but be aware that passwords need to be strong which cannot be easily hacked.

The same goes with Belkin Router too. To reset the password for Belkin Wireless Router you need to open a web browser and navigate to the IP address of the router and then fill in the username and password.

You are now logged in to the router's interface, there is a utility section of the left navigation panel click on system settings.

Now configure the router automatically and change Belkin router password and click on apply changes. And now the same password will be asked for continuing the web interface.

You can Reset the Password for Belkin Wireless Router by Following These Steps:

Step 1 : Open your web browser and navigate 192.168.2.1 for accessing router’s web-based interface.

 

Step 2 : Fill the password in the password field and then click the submit button for logging in to the interface. For this you must know the password otherwise you won’t be able to log in. Leave it blank if you don’t set a password.

Step 3 : There is a Utility section of the left navigation pane. Click on System Settings.

Step 4 : In type in the current password field, you must have to enter a password. Leave the field blank if you don’t set a password. For the new password type a password in type in the new password field and confirm new password field and then click on apply changes.

Step 5 : If you prefer to configure the router to log you out automatically, change the timeout value. It will change after a period of time.

Step 6 : To change Belkin password click on apply changes. A password will be asked after continuing the web interface.

If you lost the original Belkin password then you can reset the password for the Belkin wireless router:

  • Switch on the Belkin wireless router than on the back of the device locate the reset button. It may vary the location of the button but it depends on the model you want to reset.
  • For 15 seconds press and hold the reset button. When it will reset, it automatically reboots the router.
  • Wait until the router starts and then on a web browser navigate 192.168.2.1. The Password field should be blank and then click submit for connecting the web-based interface.

  2. Power on the Belkin wireless modem if it isn't already turned on then locate the Reset button on the back of the device.
  3. The location of the button may vary, depending on the model you need to reset.
  4. Press and hold the Reset button for 15 seconds. The router automatically reboots when it resets.
  5. Wait approximately one minute until the router restarts and then navigate to "192.168.2.1" using any web browser. Leave the Password field blank and click "Submit" to connect to the Web-based interface.

Those who pursuit to illegitimately connect to the router will be prompted for the password. If you know the password, you can change it by using the modem's Web interface. If you don't know the password, you must reset the modem to access this interface.

Resetting the modem to factory settings restores it to the default settings. The condition is that your custom settings will be erased and cannot be recovered.

Steps for Resetting the Password for Belkin:

Step 1 : Launch your Web browser.In the URL type "192.168.2.1" to access the router’s setup page.

Step 2 : A login prompt will appear in front of you. Now enter your password into the Password field and click the "Submit" button to log in to the interface.

Step 3 : In case you don’t know the password you can leave the pass field blank and click on “submit”.

Step 4 : Go to the utility section in the left navigation panel and click on “system settings”.

Step 5 : Submit the password in the "Type in current password" field. If you didn't set a password, leave the pass field blank.

Step 6 : Enter the new password into the "Type in new password" and retype the new password in the "Confirm new password" field. and click "Apply Changes."

Step 7 : After you apply the settings, your password will be changed.

You can now enter the new password you have reset to continue using the Web interface.

Resetting the Password on Belkin Router:

  • Turn ON the Belkin wireless modem if it hasn’t already turned on.
  • Now, locate the Reset button on the back of the device.
  • Press and hold the Reset button for 15 seconds.
