Wifi protected setup (WPS) is a setup page/feature that lets you connect multiple devices using the WPS button. It also configures the device and connects to the wireless router.
1. Connecting a Device Using the WPS Button
Step 1: Firstly, look for and press the WPS button on your Linksys router. Once you will press the WPS button located on your router,
you will get access to the web-based setup page of your router and will help in WPS configuration.
- To get access to the web-based setup page, go to the web browser of your choice (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.).
- And in the address bar, type “192.168.1.1” and press Enter.
- You will be prompted to insert login credentials > type “admin” on the Password field (Leave username field empty.
- Then click OK.
Step 2: In the next step, after a minute or two, click on the WPS button on the guest device that you desire to connect to the router’s wireless network.
After that, the device will now be connected to the router. In case you face any issue with the WPS setup process that will display a Connection Failure! Your guest device failed to connect to the network. Refer back to your guest device for further instructions. Press "OK" to continue the message, then you will have to configure your router’s wireless settings manually.
2. Connect Devices Using WPS Pin on the Linksys Router
- In order to get access to the web-based setup page, go to the web browser of your choice (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) > and in the address bar, type “192.168.1.1” and press Enter.
- You will be prompted to insert login credentials > type “admin” on the Password field (Leave username field empty > then click OK.
- Next, click on wireless > Wi-Fi protected setup.
- And in the blank field, insert your guest device’s PIN > and then click the Register button.
Once the configuration process finishes up, the guest device will automatically connect to your wireless router through WPS. In case you face any issue with the WPS setup process that will display a Connection Failure! Your guest device failed to connect to the network.
Refer back to your guest device for further instructions. Press "OK" to continue the message, then you will have to configure your router’s wireless settings manually.
3. Connecting a Device Using the Router’s WPS PIN
- In order to get access to the web-based setup page, go to the web browser of your choice (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) > and in the address bar, type “192.168.1.1” and press Enter.
- You will be prompted to insert login credentials > type “admin” on the Password field (Leave username field empty > then click OK.
- Now, click on wireless > and then on Wi-Fi protected setup.
- Next, in the wifi protected setup screen, you will find your router’s WPS pin. Or you can also find the WPS pin (8-digit) on the label at the bottom of your router along with the Mac address. In the next step, you will be prompted to enter the router’s WPS pin.
- Once the configuration process finishes up, the guest device will automatically connect to your wireless router through WPS. In case you face any issue with the WPS setup process that will display a Connection Failure! Your guest device failed to connect to the network.
