Netgear Router constantly provides updates to improve the router's performance and creates a pop-up regarding the firmware upgrade.

To manually update your Netgear Router Firmware, you need to follow some steps like opening the internet browser on your computer or smartphone which is connected to the router's network entering www.routerlogin.net, now tapping on the search icon and typing login credentials.

Then go to the Administration by clicking on Advanced and here click on firmware update and check for any new updates.

In case of the availability of an update, click on yes and update the firmware of the Netgear Router and after updating restart your router.

How to Update Netgear Router Firmware Manually?

Step 1 : Open your internet browser on your smartphone or computer system, which is connected to the network of your router device. It is better to connect your Netgear router to the computer system using an ethernet connection for a firmware upgrade.

Step 2 : Enter www.routerlogin.net in the location bar of the browser.

Step 3 : Tap or click on the search icon. The Netgear router login page will open up.

Step 4 : Type-in login credentials. Enter admin in the username field as it is the default username and enter the word ‘password’ in the password section. Also, you need to be very careful while entering both the details as both the password as well as the username are case-sensitive.

Step 5 : Step 1 : After that, click on ‘Advanced’ and then go to ‘Administration’. Additionally, you can go to settings and then administration.

Step 6 : Click on router update or firmware update.

Step 7 : Now, tap or click on check. The router will begin to look for a new update.

Step 8 : In case the update is available, then click on yes. The firmware will be updated.

Don’t cause any interruptions while the update is going on or else it can lead to the risk of firmware corruption. For instance, don’t open a new link, don’t click on another link, or don’t leave the browser.

The router will restart once the firmware upgrade is over. It does not take more than 5 minutes for the update process to get completed.
