Connect a Belkin Router to Another Router:

Connecting one router to another router is called cascading. This is usually done when you want to improve your network's performance without removing your old router. You may also do this to expand the range of your wireless network or connect more devices.

Users also cascade to isolate the network traffic. In this process, the main router is connected to the secondary router. Here in this article, you will learn how to connect the Belkin router to another router.

1) LAN to LAN Connection

In this process, you need to connect the ethernet port of your Belkin router to the ethernet port of the other router. In this process, your Belin router is the main router and the other router is the secondary router.

Both the routers need to be on the same LAN IP segment. This will allow computers and other devices to connect to the router devices. You must perform this configuration process if you wish to share the resources and files within the same network.

Below are the steps that you need to follow for LAN to LAN connection.

Step 1: Check the IP address of the main router and make a note of it.

Step 2: Now, connect your computer to the secondary router.

Step 3: After that, go to the setup page of your secondary router.

Step 4: Go to the left navigation tab and search for LAN settings under LAN setup.

Step 5: Change the DHCP server to off. In case the IP address is the same as the main router, change the value in the fourth octect.

Step 6: After that, set the DHCP server to off.

Step 7: Now, select apply changes.

Step 8: Disconnect the cable from your PC and then connect it to the main router.

Step 9: Powercycle the secondary router and when the power light becomes stable, check your network connection.

2) LAN to WAN Connection

In this process, you connect the ethernet port of your main router to the internet port of your other router. In a LAN to WAN connection, your main and secondary routers need to have different IP segments. In this type of connection, one can easily identify the computers and devices your router is connected to.

Devices that are connected to the main router won't be able to communicate with the secondary router. Also, the devices connected to the secondary router cannot communicate with the main router.

Below are the steps that you need to perform for a LAN to WAN connection.

Step 1: First of all, check the IP address of the main router and then note it somewhere.

Step 2: After that, you are required to connect your computer to the secondary router.

Step 3: Then, open the setup page of your secondary router.

Step 4: Go to the navigation tab on the left and select LAN setup. Also, make sure that the DHCP of the secondary router is turned on. Generally, DHCP is selected by default. If you wish to enable DHCP on your router, go to the LAN setup page. After that, turn on DHCP.

Step 5: Select Apply Changes.

Step 6: Disconnect the cable from your computer and then connect the ethernet ports to the main router.

Step 7: Now, connect the LAN port of the main router to the internet port of your secondary router.

Step 8: Powercycle your router and when the power lights become stable, check your network connection.

So, these are the two methods that can help you connect your Belkin router to another router.
