How To Setup Netgear Router N600?

I have a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router that I want to use as a wireless "hotspot" (or I believe Netgear calls it a repeater). Unfortunately my knowledge with this goes as far as using one router. So I need help figuring out how to get my Netgear Router to be in listening mode to bounce the signal from the Xfinity router to the upstairs. Please help!

Go through these steps to set up Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router -

  1. First of all, power off your modem and Netgear router.
  2. In next step, take an ethernet cable for connecting your modem to the Netgear router’s “Internet” port.
  3. Take another ethernet cable for connecting your computer to Netgear router’s LAN port.
  4. Now power on your modem and wait for a couple of minutes until all lights become stable.
  5. Once modem’s lights become stable, power on Netgear router and wait for a few moments until power light becomes solid green.
  6. After setting up physical connection properly, launch an internet browser and type “192.168.1.1” in the browser’s address bar. Then press Enter. By doing this, you are redirected to Netgear router login page.
  7. Login into Netgear router interface by entering default login credentials. If you are using the older model of Netgear router then Smart Wizard Interface ill display on the screen. On the other hand, if you are using latest model of Netgear router then Netgear Genie Set up wizard will display on the screen.
  8. Next, move to left-pane and then tap on Advanced> Setup wizard.
  9. Now, you will be asked if you want Netgear router to detect your internet connection. Then hit the Next key. To detect your internet connection, the setup wizard will take a few moments. Once the internet connection is detected, “Congratulations” page will display on the screen.
  10. At last, click on “Take me to the internet” and verify your internet connection if it is working properly or not.

If everything is OK then you should understand that your Netgear router is successfully configured and ready to use.

Step - 1 Once you power up the router you merely type http://routerlogin.net and you're redirected to the web interface on the router. You don't have to type in an IP address such as 192.168.1.1 though that's the default address for the router.NETGEAR N600 ROUTER SETUP

Step - 2 If you prefer to connect wirelessly by default the WNDR3800 is preconfigured with a unique SSID (Network Name) and a unique Network Key. This information appears both on a label on the bottom of the router as well as on the protective plastic film on the top of the router. Note that the same WPA passphrase is used for both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.NETGEAR TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Step - 3 You can either manually configure your wireless connection using this supplied information or you can press the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on the front of the router and use the WPS feature of your wireless client.NETGEAR ROUTER TECHNICAL SUPPORT
