Step 2: Change your country if not selected already. Select "United States” if prompted and then click on “DIR-615RevB”
Step 3: Next, click over the “Firmware” Link shown on the page and then download the latest version of the Dlink firmware. The firmware update downloads as a .zip file. Please make note of the location where the download is saved.
Step 4) Next, go to the Downloads folder in your system and extract all the files from .zip image.
Step 5) Open any installed browser on your system web browser and jump to this gateway address: 192.168.0.1. This is the default IP address for accessing the web UI of the Dlink router.
Step 6: The default password will be shown blank. Next, click on the Login option on your screen.
Step 7: Finally, you have landed on the main page of the router admin interface. Now, click on the “Tools” tab at your admin screen.
Step 8: Now here at the left side, you will have many options to select and configure. Click on the “Firmware” tab.
Step 9: Click on the “Choose File” button on the Firmware screen. This action will open up the Window explorer window on your screen.
Step 10: Quickly, navigate to the exact location of the extracted firmware files and then select the .bin file.
Step 11: After you have selected the appropriate file, click on the “Upload” button to update firmware on Dlink router dir-615. Next, you will be shown the two confirmation pop-up prompts. Click on “OK” button for both the confirmation messages.
Step 12: So, here the router firmware update process begins and you will be directed to a page where you have to wait for the update to complete. Once this timer goes down to zero, you can then access the configuration page and your router device will be updated.
Once you have upgraded your DIR-615 router to the latest version, make sure that IPv6 is enabled for your router and its working. If its disabled, configure the device through the web UI just like you did to update the firmware. Again, you have to open the default URL 192.168.0.1 on any installed browser and enable the IPv6 option. Simply Login and make the settings.
